The Dove and The Crown
Happy Friday. I can’t say it’s a Good Friday, because not only is this not Easter weekend, yet another war (this time in Iran) is raging in our world and as a citizen of our planet and “aspirational culture healer,” my spirit is both restless and distraught because I know there is much evil afoot in our land. Kristi Noem may have been given a new job yesterday by our elected king, but that does not change the momentum of his MAGA regime or our moral imperative to resist it.
Today I want to pass along some inspiration and deep thoughts from “Illustrated Ministry,” and a recent post they shared that a member of our Caldwell church family passed along on her Facebook page. The author wrote, in reference to art and graphics that juxtapose a dove breaking the crown of the king:
“These signs serve not as partisan slogans, but as theological statements. A reminder that Christian faith resists authoritarian power and aligns with a different vision of leadership rooted in humility, justice, and love… The dove is often seen as a symbol of peace. But peace is not passive or submissive; it moves with power, disrupts what harms, and builds what frees. Promote the work of peace with a sign that literally breaks the crown of empire.”
It’s time to “resist and heal,” and work together with others to serve as peacemakers on earth.

It is time to “heal our culture,” to act not as culture warriors, but as culture healers:
Plan to participate and support the nationwide “No Kings 3” rallies and protests planned for March 28th, later this month. More information about our Charlotte No Kings 3 protest, march and rally is available on:
