I love this quoted idea from the podcast, which I will paraphrase:
Joy is a superpower, and can give us WINGS.
The discussion of money and its power over our individual minds and our collective culture reminds me of several hours I spent about a decade ago (in 2011) in Shanghai at the Shanghai Museum, and its Museum of Money. Most of the labels on the artifacts were in Mandarin, so I could not read them, but I was able to take away some important ideas and perceptions. Over thousands of years, human beings have used a variety of objects and materials to serve as money. We invent money, and if we collectively created money to “serve us,” it is paradoxical that today many feel our culture pressures us primarily to serve the idol of money and worship at its altar.
These ideas align closely with a future vision of “Star Trek Plus” I’ve written about (briefly) and dreamed about before with Shelly, who is a huge Trekkie / Star Trek and SciFi fan.
